3-20-12 The City of Titusville, Florida has a population of just over 40,000 people and is nicknamed Space City, USA because of its proximity to NASA. The city is high-tech with many high-tech residents. Over the last decade Titusville has been hit by numerous hurricanes. In each case, their emergency operations center (EOC) was activated. Titusville continues to leverage technology to make sure that the city is doing all it can to protect its citizenry and provide top notch services. In regards to the EOC, GIS has been made available to assist in pre-disaster planning and post-disaster recovery.
3-13-12 West University Place, Texas, a suburb of Houston, is the home of many Rice University professors and other professionals. The City has been utilizing GIS for a number of years. With the help of Geographic Technologies Group (GTG), they have integrated GIS with their existing IT investments and have created a host of GIS data. Gary McFarland, IT Director, for West University Place understands the need to continue to improve and to ensure that his organization has the tools they need to get their job done.
3-1-12 Granville County, North Carolina is taking receipt of new GIS layers for public safety. After attending a GIS seminar (10 Ways to Improve Your Public Safety with GIS) at a recent North Carolina joint NENA/APCO conference, Granville County 911 Manager, William Wheeler, realized that a ramped up GIS was critical for public safety. Under Mr. Wheeler’s guidance, the county choose Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) to create the needed data sets and to create a vision for moving GIS to the enterprise at the County.
2-14-12 Like most cities, Clayton, NC and Chesterfield, MO had acquired the technology to assist departments in conducting their core job duties. They had invested in GIS and a leading ERP system (New World). However, in both cases they were not getting the full return on their investments. Challenges arose. Integration of their ERP with GIS was needed. Data to feed their ERP derived from GIS layers such as parcels and address points was critical. Staff knew that they needed to have enterprise-wide adoption of GIS and needed to view their ERP data via GIS.

MapNimbus allows users to search by address or agency to view a wide array of information about their area.

City of Hoover Board of Education, Alabama – purchased twenty-five (25) seats of GeoBlade Viewer. City of Chesterfield, Missouri Public Works – purchased fifteen (15) seats of GeoBlade Viewer and GeoBlade PAST. City of Wooster, Ohio – purchased five GeoBlade Crimes seats. Lancaster County, South Carolina – purchased GeoBlade Crimes. City of Hoover, Alabama – purchased seventeen (17) seats of GeoBlade Mobile, nineteen (19) seats of GeoBlade Dispatch, and one seat of GeoBlade AVL.
1-25-12 The City of Dunn, North Carolina has a population of just over 10,000 and is known by many more people as a convenient stop while travelling along Interstate 95. In the spring of 2011, the City and surrounding area were hit by a series of deadly tornadoes. Immediately following the disaster, the City’s public safety staff was made acutely aware of the need for rapid response to emergencies and the importance of highly accurate GIS data.

City of Missouri City, Texas – purchased MapNimbus to display code enforcement information.
1-9-12 Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) is pleased to announce new MapNimbus clients. Lumberton, NC has implemented MapNimbus to track crime and sex offenders. Missouri City, TX has implemented the technology for code enforcement cases. MapNimbus users can quickly view posted activity in their area and receive notifications for events within a selected distance from a point of interest. GTG’s president Curt Hinton points out, “Hosting GIS data in the cloud has been a positive advancement for our clients. The ease of use of MapNimbus has allowed local governments to provide online GIS services that are a step ahead of most sites. The ability to auto-notify interested citizens is critical and is becoming expected by the computer savvy citizen.”
1-5-12 Geographic Technologies Group® (GTG®) was contracted by the Town of Wilton, Connecticut to design, develop, and deploy an Esri enterprise GIS solution. GTG compiled and reviewed existing GIS data and developed a comprehensive database design to best suit the Town’s GIS needs. GTG then deployed the Esri ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE enterprise GIS solutions. The Town’s existing ArcGIS desktops were then upgraded to Version 10 to be compatible with the new server environment. Town staff were trained how to access the newly designed geodatabase and how to perform basic administration of the server environment.
